It has long been agreed that training and development of a workforce are paramount to achieving organizational success. The Provincial Administration is a major employer in KwaZulu-Natal and its diverse workforce requires a significant investment in education, training and development. This and various other challenges facing the Public Service, has demanded an innovate, creative and functional solution to meeting the skills development needs of the Province and such a solution lies in the establishment of the Provincial Public Service Training Academy.
The Provincial Public Service Training Academy is an institutional mechanism aimed at ensuring a co-ordinated and structured approach to human resource development in the Province. It is a dedicated unit in the Office of the Premier, whose exclusive function is to provide a specialized training and organizational development service to the officials of the KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Administration. Furthermore, it will be a catalyst for change and will act to inspire new behaviour and stimulate growth. It will empower individuals with critical thinking and decision making skills and build a responsible caring public servant, one that displays behaviour and values necessary for enhanced service delivery.
